about me and the blog

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Jessica Rose Davis, and I am a 30-something wife and mother.  I am also a full-time art teacher in the Atlanta, GA area. I have 2 degrees: 1) BA in Pre-Professional Psychology, and 2) MA in Counseling-Human Relations.  Most importantly, I am a believer in Jesus Christ and love the Lord with all my heart! I do not know what my life would be like if Christ was not at the center of it.  It would be crazy, for sure!

My husband and I did not get married until I was 29 (a month before 30), and we had our 1st child (Cayden) 2 months before I turned 31.  So, I have spent the majority of my life as a working single woman.  I have worked in many different fields since I was 17 years old.  I was an after-school care teacher, mortgage office assistance and office manager, nursing assistant, overnight counselor for crisis management, and a nanny…I’m sure there was something I left out. J  Through it all, my identity has been grounded in my faith and being an artist…an oil painter to be exact.

I was very well adjusted, organized, and scheduled with this life.  I was comfortable. Then, my priorities changed.
I got married and had a kid.

About This Blog
The purpose behind this blog is to share my life, things I have learned, and things I am still learning about functioning as a full-time working wife and mother – how to be the Proverbs 31* woman.  Because I am still new to married life and mommyhood, I have struggled (well, still struggling) with finding the balance in all aspects of my life without letting any of them fall between the cracks.  However, I am a hard-core researcher that tries to find solutions to everything.  I’m a problem-solver.  Not having enough time to do things like paint, have a Bible study, eat healthy food, exercise, and date my husband is a huge problem.  Within this blog, I am going to share with you my research and my experiences.  I hope that it helps you as much as I am anticipating it will help me.  I am here to tell you that with the right tools of planning, organization, and most of all, prayer, there is time to fit in EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN everything else.
*Proverbs 31 Woman (The Message, vs. 10-31, www.biblegateway.com)
Hymn to a Good Wife
10-31 A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds. Her husband trusts her without reserve, and never has reason to regret it. Never spiteful, she treats him generously all her life long. She shops around for the best yarns and cottons, and enjoys knitting and sewing.
She's like a trading ship that sails to faraway places and brings back exotic surprises. She's up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day. She looks over a field and buys it, then, with money she's put aside, plants a garden. First thing in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started. She senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day. She's skilled in the crafts of home and hearth, diligent in homemaking. She's quick to assist anyone in need, reaches out to help the poor. She doesn't worry about her family when it snows; their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear. She makes her own clothing, and dresses in colorful linens and silks. Her husband is greatly respected when he deliberates with the city fathers. She designs gowns and sells them, brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops. Her clothes are well-made and elegant, and she always faces tomorrow with a smile. When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly. She keeps an eye on everyone in her household, and keeps them all busy and productive. Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise: "Many women have done wonderful things, but you've outclassed them all!" Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades. The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God. Give her everything she deserves! Festoon her life with praises!
